CFR auctions lease of 1,100 km of railroad

The National Railroad Company CFR will lease about 1,100 km of railroad belonging to non inter-operable railway infrastructure in a public tender organized on July 21 at the Romanian Commodity Exchange (BRM), the operation being part of the IMF accord, Act Media quotes.

The lease contract for the 1,079.9 km will be concluded for four years and the highest bid will win. The firms interested can send their offers until the day of the tender. Romanian companies that are operators with railway travel license can participate in the tender, according to conditions mentioned in the documentation.

"The lease of railway sections belonging to non inter operable railroad infrastructure represents one of the engagements included in the program of making the railway system efficient by cutting down expenses and unprofitable activities. By this program CFR observes government engagements included in the letter of intention signed with IMF and the Memorandum with EU," said Macarie Moldovan, the general manager of CFR.

The company can lease by tender the railway sections to economic operators. The winners must take over the existing CFR personnel according to legal provisions.

The participants can send their offers for one or several traffic section belonging to regional railway branches Bucharest, Craiova, Timisoara, Cluj, Brasov, Iasi, Galati and Constanta.The Bucharest section has non inter operable sections Ploiesti West-Targoviste North-Fieni-Pietrosita, Ditesti-Gura Palangii, I.L.Caragiale-Ditesti-Moreni, Ploiesti North-Maneciu, Campina-Campimita-Telega, Ploiesti South-Armasesti.

Craiova branch has the sections Bradu de sus- Bradu Rafinarie-Parvu, Timisoara has Caransebes-Boutari, Hateg-Subcetate, Oravita-Anina, Nadab-Graniceri, Timisoara North-Jimbolia,Timisoara North-Timisoara West, and for the Cluj branch there are the sections Campia Turzii-Turda, Ilva Mica-Rodna Veche, Botiz-Bixad, Baia Mare-Baia Mare North.

For Brasov there are the sections Chileni-Voslobeni, Sebes Alba- Petrestii de padure, for Iasi the sections Dornesti-Gura Putnei-Putna, Dornisoara-Floreni, Gura Humorului-Darmanesti, Crasna-Husi, Zorleni-Falciu North, Piatra Neamt-Bicaz.

For Galati the sections are Faurei-Tecuci, Marasesti-Panciu, Comanesti-Moinesti, Faurei-Urziceni and for Constanta - Slobozia Veche-Tandarei, Medgidia-Tulcea Oras and Medgidia-Negru Voda.
