Bosch Cluj factory at Cluj to open in May

The Bosch factory in the central Romanian county of Cluj will open on May 9, the company announced. The opening of the new production facility in Romania is tied in with Europe's Day. In a first stage, Bosch invested EUR 77 million in a new research and production centre in Cluj covering nearly 38,000 sqm.

2014-04-21 21:53:59

The Bosch team that took part in the construction of the Cluj factory was made up of employees from Romania (Bucharest and Cluj), Germany ( the Bosch factory at Ansbach), France (the Bosch production facility at Mondville) and Hungary (the Bosch Centre at Hatvan).

The company says by early 2014, as many as 325 employees worked at the production and research departments of the centre. In the following years, the location will be expanded, with Bosch decided to continue recruiting.
Organisationally speaking, the new centre will be part of the Bosch Automotive Electronics Division, a developer and producer of electronic command devise, semiconductors and sensors for the automotive industry and other fields.

The division has 17 production facilities worldwide and nearly 20,000 employees. The Bosch Group is operational in Romania in four cities: Bucharest, Blaj, Cluj and Timisoara.

Bosch started operating in Bucharest in 1994, when it opened a company to distribute electric tools, heating systems, security systems, safety and communications, as well as automotive equipment. In 1999, Bosch opened in Bucharest BSH Electrocasnice. In 2007, Bosch opened in Blaj Bosch Rexroth, a production facility of linear technique, which in 2013 was expanded with a new automotive factory. In 2008, a Bosch communication centre opened in Timisoara.

As of early 2014, Bosch was employing nearly 2,000 staff in Romania. FY 2013 preliminary reports indicate 281,000 Bosch employees worldwide and global sales of EUR 46.4 billion.
