Eurostat: Confidence in Romanian economy worsens in January, against EU tendency
The confidence of the business environment and of the people in Romanian economy has slightly worsened in January, being pulled down by industry, constructions and retail trade, continuing the December decline, its evolution being contrary to the positive tendency at EU level, according to Eurostat data quoted by Actmedia. 2014-01-31 11:55:42
The confidence index in economy dropped by 0.6 per cent from 95.3 per cent in December to 94.7 per cent. Confidence in the retail trade sector, industry and constructions had a negative evolution, while the consumers' confidence registered a slight increase, according to Eurostat data.
In the Euro zone, confidence in economy grew in January for the 9th month in a row, from 100.4 in December to 100.9, reaching the highest level in July 2011.Confidence is higher in the biggest economies in the monetary union, in Germany (0.7 per cent) and France (1.1 per cent).
The confidence index in Germany is at the highest level since August 2011,while in France it reached a maximum in April 2012. In Spain and Italy the confidence stagnated while in Holland it dropped.
On the overall in EU, confidence improvement is higher than in the euro zone, with a growth of 0.9 per cent to 104.7 per cent the highest level since June 2011. The highest increase in states outside euro area took place in Poland (1.7 per cent) and Great Britain (1 per cent).
