Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest Appoints Jan Thomsen as General Manager
Athenee Palace Hilton welcomes the appointment of Jan Thomsen as its new general manager.Thomsen replaces Linda Griffin, who after three successful years at Hilton Bucharest, will leave Romania to continue her career as general manager of Hilton London Kensington in the United Kingdom. 2013-11-08 12:38:14
Thomsen has been working in the hospitality industry for more than 27 years, most recently in Budapest as general manager at Hilton WestEnd, where he spent five years. Prior to Hilton Budapest WestEnd, Thomsen received his first general manager assignment in Denmark at Scandic Hotels.
After gaining experience as general manager at different hotels in the Copenhagen area, he moved into a regional role having the responsibility of the operation of 12 hotels. Apart from operating hotels, Thomsen also gained experience as project manager during the opening of a 300-room hotel in Copenhagen and has also held positions in various cities in Germany as well.
His extensive food and beverage experience coupled with sophisticated management and great leadership will play a pivotal role in his position. Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest is a flagship property in Romania and Thomsen's expertise and passion will ensure the hotel and team continue to perform at the highest levels.
Speaking of his appointment, Thomsen said: I have fallen in love with the flavors of Eastern Europe and I am delighted to get the opportunity to pursue my career in this wonderful historic landmark hotel in Bucharest.
Thomsen has always been fascinated by the hotel industry, and acquired his basic education at hospitality schools in Denmark and kept up with industry trends at IMD in Switzerland and Cornell University in the U.S.
In addition to Thomsen's enthusiasm for hospitality,he is an avid kayaker and always enjoys a race on the fjords when he visits Denmark.
