Rompetrol invests USD 380 million to increase Petromidia capacity

Rompetrol Group has completed the modernization program for its flagship refinery Petromidia, increasing the raw material processing capacity from 3.5 to 5 million tonnes and the exclusive production of Euro 5 fuels, with a total investment of USD 380 million.

October 2012 - From the Print Edition

The program started in 2006 and included nine projects: the construction of five brand new installations and the modernization and development of the existing four. "The Petromidia refinery is an important asset for Rompetrol and KazMunayGas, being technologically capable of processing crude from Kazakhstan," senior vice-president of KazMunayGas, Daniyar Berlibayev, said. "The completion of this program will help crude exports to be diversified throughout the European Union and the integration of Rompetrol Group in the value network."
In related news, Rompetrol Group wants to expand its station network in the region by building around 350 gas stations in Romania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova in the next five years.
