Huawei Romania, the local company of Huawei Technologies launched only in 2011, 11 mobile terminals models under the brand, of which 3 of them, are smart phones. “The peak of sales has been registered in Christmas, being also the time when we introduced the mobile phones with android operation system. The evolution of sales has been ascending, and all the new models sold better than the previous. Also, regarding the tablets, Orange Tahiti tablet and the S7slim of Cosmote sold very well,” said Elena-Simona Stefanescu, key accounts director of Huawei Technologies. Therefore, the manager states that 2011 has been a good year for the company, in spite of a difficult economy context. “The relationships with our customers also consolidated. Also, we targeted the cost-effectiveness strategy in our business. It’s true that there were no investments in large expansion of the network but, more important, we delivered tailored solutions for mobile operators, adjusting to the current market needs,” according to Elena-Simona Stefanescu. The company developed in Romania a Global Support Center that proves the local abilities of Romanian specialists in telecommunications. “The technical schools in Romania deliver very well prepared specialists. We decided to open here the global support center in spite of the local labor costs which are not the smallest in Europe in telecommunications, in order to benefit from the specialized professionals,” Huawei official stated. Currently, in Romania, Huawei has 600 workers and, by the end of 2012, it will hire more than 400.
