Visa and Vodafone signed a global partnership for mobile payments
Visa and Vodafone have announced a global partnership that will enable consumers to pay for goods and services with the mobile phone instead of cash. The companies will collaborate to develop the concept under the Vodafone brand, which will be made available to 398 million Vodafone customers in over 30 countries in five continents, through innovative Visa payment network. Partnership - the largest of its kind between a global payments network and a mobile operator - combines global area of distribution services and companies expertise to bring technology to Visa payments consumers worldwide. The new concept of mobile payments developed by Visa and Vodafone will be based on prepaid Visa cards offered to consumers by Visa member banks. The service will be launched in Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom in the current financial year and starting with the new financial year. Will follow other countries in the world portfolio of Vodafone.
