New homes in east pump up housing numbers
NATIONWIDE The number of housing units delivered in the first six months of 2009 went up by 1,248 units against the first six months of 2008, reaching 23,000 dwellings, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). October 2009 - From the Print Edition
The number of delivered housing units increased by 794 in the north-east of the country and in the south-east it rose by 711. In the centre of the country, the number of delivered dwellings declined by 502 units and in the south-west it dropped by 192 homes.
Last year 52.8 per cent of the delivered dwellings were built in the rural areas.
Around 52 per cent of the units were delivered in the cities, while the remaining 48 per cent were built in the rural areas.
