Romania has passed a law to replace the physical work cards with an electronic database of information detailing an employee’s previous jobs, which employers can access on-line.
However the modernisation of the system has caused concern among some observers regarding data protection.
Citizens will no longer have direct access to details of their work history, which was previously a necessary piece of documentation in their application for a personal loan.
