  • Mr Roland Lohkamp, 62, is the new German Ambassador to Romania. A graduate in law and political sciences, Mr Lohkamp was previously chief of mission at the German Embassy in Luxembourg. His career also includes work with the German Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Federal Presidency, as well as work as head of the press section at the Brussels permanent NATO representative office.
  • Mr Alexander Anato-lievici Ciurilin has been appointed Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Romania. Born in 1946,Mr Ciurilin graduated from the Institute of International Relations, Moscow in 1970. His previous postings include Zambia (1970 – 1974), USA(1989-1995) and Denmark (1998 – 2002). In 2003 he was appointed director of the department of history and documents in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is married with one daughter and speaks English and Swedish.
  • Mr Choi Ihl-sang was appointed as Ambassador of South Korea to Bucharest. He was born in 1954 and is married with two children. The Ambassador studied sociology in Seoul University and then at the UK at Royal Army School and Moscow Diplomatic Academy. In  South Korea he also studied at the National Defence University. He speaks fluent English and Russian. His previous postings were as general director for European Affairs Bureau in the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a specialist for Russia and CIS countries. This is his first posting as ambassador. His hobby is golf.
  • Mrs Marta Moszczenska has been appointed Ambassador of Canada to Romania, with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova and High Commissioner to the Republic of Cyprus. MrsMoszczenska, a graduate of Carleton University, joined the Department ofIndustry, Trade and Commerce in 1977 as a commercial officer. In 1985, she became a foreign service officer and later served abroad in Milan and in Boston as a trade commissioner. In Ottawa, following several assignments in trade policy and with the Program for Export Market Development, she served as Departmental Assistant to the Minister for International Trade and Deputy Director, Trade Development Liaison and Special Projects Division. From 1994 to 1996, she was Director, Rotational Administrative Personnel Division. Between 1996 and 1999 she served as Counsellor (Commercial) and Consul at the Embassy of Canada in Indonesia. In 1999, she was appointed Canada’s Ambassador to Hungary, with concurrent accreditation to Slovenia. She has most recently served as Director, Central European, Baltic and Eastern Mediterranean Division.
  • Mr Carlos Parker has been appointed as ambassador of Chile to Romania and Bulgaria. 51 year-old Parker is married and this is his first posting as ambassador. Before coming to Romania he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chile, as adviser for multilateral affairs, deputy director in regional coordination and as director. Mr Parker graduated from the University of Chile and has a Master’s in International Studies. He has a bachelor of arts in history, geography and pedagogy. During 1995 to 2005 he was professor at several Chilean universities including the Chilean School of Journalism. He speaks fluent Spanish, English and French and was columnist in Chilean national newspapers.
  • Mr Francois Lasalle has been appointed commercial counsellor at the Canadian Embassy. Lasalle holds degrees in business management and international commerce and worked for several years in the field of regional economic development, before joining the Canadian Foreign Service. His previous postings include media relations division in the Canadian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.
  • Mr Theodore Tanoue has arrived in Bucharest as the new Chief of the Political Section at the US Embassy. Mr Tanoue recently completed the six-month senior course at the NATO Defense College in Rome and spent the previous yearin the Boston area as a State Department Fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. His overseas postings include political counsellor at the US Embassy in Sarajevo from 2002-2004, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines.
  • Ms Judith Moon is the United States Embassy’s new Counsellor for Press and Culture and head of the Office of Public Affairs. A career diplomat, Ms Moon’s previous postings include South Africa, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Fiji and Cameroon.
  • Mr Ants Frosch has been appointed Ambassador of Estonia to Romania and is resident in Warsaw.
  • Mr Bogdan Pascu, 39, is Romania’s new deputy Prime Minister in charge with coordinating the business environment and SMEs, replacing Mr George Copos. An engineer by training, Mr Pascu is specialised in financing and management and is a deputy in the Romanian Parliament, as a representative of the Conservative Party (PC). Since 2003 he has been vice president of the party.
  • Mrs Angela Toncescu has been elected as president of the Insurance Supervision Commission (CSA), replacing Mr Nicolae Crisan. Mrs Toncescu has 25 years experience in the local insurance industry, working as administrator and president of the Administration Board of Ardaf, and as general manager and president of the Administration Board of Asirom.
  • Mr Harry Mutuma Kathurima has been appointed Ambassador of Kenya to Bucharest and is resident in Berlin.
  • Mr Antonio Tonis Taquis Ochoa has been appointed Ambassador of Panama to Romania and is resident in Budapest.
  • Former head of AECL for Romania Mr John Saroudis has been reappointed as president of the Canadian Business Association of Romania.
